Pastor Jeff Knott of Grace Church in Port Hope, Ontario presents part 2 of the Prayer series based on Ephesians 3:14 -17:
We want a fresh call from the Lord in 2020 to press into Him for a clear vision for our lives.
Spiritual realities are understood by us in degrees. At one level we know things about the Lord, but there is always opportunity to appropriate them at a different level, to embrace them in a greater degree.
So God patiently grows us up line upon line, precept upon precept, revelation upon revelation, experience of Him upon experience and the growth in Christ-likeness is a process.
Our growth in Christ we just make it a habit of accessing the glorious riches we have in Him.
It’s possible to become like Jesus and prayer is a big part of that process.
Let’s stop settling for the status quo in every part of our lives. Let’s move beyond the ordinary and the typical because we serve an extraordinary God.
Because we have a strength in our inner being that can only be explained by the fact that His Spirit and Christ Himself is dwelling within us.
We have a love that can only be explained by the fact that love has taken root and through that love our lives have been established that provides us with a sure foundation.
We have a knowledge of that love in all its dimensions – it’s wide, it’s long, it’s high, it’s deep – that can only be explained because it’s so immense, it’s unknowable, it surpasses knowledge and it’s a mystery, I know, but it’s true.
Our finite lives have been invited into the very infinite life of God. We share that life with Him. You and I are possessors of eternal life.
Praise is an expression of wonder in the goodness of God.
Prayer prepares us for all the spiritual privileges that we have in Christ.
At the start of 2020 let’s believe for greater things.
