The Woman, the Child and the Dragon

The Woman, the Child and the Dragon

Pastor Jeff Knott continues the Sermon Series on Revelation: The Time is Near with “The Woman, the Child and the Dragon”:

“In Revelation truth comes in picture form.”

“Think of Revelation as an art gallery: the pictures are not in chronological order. The next painting is of the woman in Chapter 12.”

“The woman is Israel. The sign points to a greater reality. The woman is also Mary, the mother of Jesus. The woman is also Eve.”

“The devil is the dragon who is making war on the church.”

“All of God’s Kingdom people is embodied in the woman who put their trust in the one and only Saviour of the world – Jesus.”

“The male child is Jesus. This includes His incarnation, His ministry, the cross, Easter morning, His ascension, His exultation – He was born to be King.”

“Jesus is not spoken of as a sign. He is the reality. Jesus is the center of all reality.”

“All things point to Him; He is the center; He is our destination.”

“The dragon is the force behind all evil. He makes war on the Son and on the woman’s offspring (or the church). He is no match for God, so he attacks those who are dear to God.”

“We do win in the end – hold on, persevere.”

“Satan is a defeated foe – he is defeated in your life. We have overcome by the blood of the Lamb. By what Christ has accomplished on the cross the enemy is defeated.”

“When our lives our found faithful in Christ the enemy is weak and powerless.”

“The best weapon for spiritual warfare is a godly life.”

From verse 3 of “A Mighty Fortress is our God” by Martin Luther:

And tho this world with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, We will not fear for God had willed His truth to triumph thru us. The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him – His rage we can endure, for lo his doom is sure: One little word shall fell him.
