Only A Child

Only A Child

Pastor Jeff Knott of Grace Church in Port Hope, Ontario continues “Run With Horses: A Sermon Series through Jeremiah” with “Only a Child”:

It is God’s action on our behalf that is most true of us. The reason we are here is because of a loving Father. Long before we were, we were known by God.

The problem with excuses is that friends don’t need them and your enemies don’t believe them.

We’ll always be inadequate.

It’s the complex things that get the best of us. Our lives our infinitely complex which means that our lives are beyond figuring out. Life is too much for us.

You’ll never be smart enough to deal with all the eventualities. Our hearts fool us into thinking we can manage our own lives.

It’s not weakness to say that you need help – it’s actually great wisdom.

We are not meant to be autonomous people living on our own under our own resources. We’re meant to live under the care of a loving God with others who also will care for us.

There is One who stands above it all and knows it all and all the complexity. He is able to weave together for something good.

That’s the answer to or own inability and our own inadequacy – that God is with us. It’s God’s enabling presence and His capacity to save and to equip us to do the impossible. It’s God who will enable and superintend our lives.

Billy Graham said, “The will of God will not take us where the grace of God cannot sustain us.”

It’s not what we bring to the table that determines our participation in the purposes of God; it’s God’s action – He will qualify you to what He’s called you to do.

The whole weight of heaven is behind us when we are doing what God has asked us to do.
