Empower and Esteem One Another

Pastor Donna Schultz concludes her series on the Book of Ruth with “Empower and Esteem One Another”. Here are some excerpts:

“Your family tree and background are not the qualifiers in God’s Kingdom purposes; it is your present desire to honour God and love people.”

“May we be a people who honour who God is; your feet are the ones making tracks on your God-given land.”

“What does it look like to have a woman take the initiative and a man respond?”

“Can Scripture give a true picture of a man empowering a woman?”

“Is the man diminished as he gives place to the leadership of a woman?”

“Are God’s plans and His purposes thwarted when a man responds favourably to the lead of a woman?”

“Might the earth literally fall off its axis when the woman’s leading and the man appears to be following or responding to a woman?”

“Naomi is pouring herself out for Ruth. A powerful act of submission; it is a towel and a bowl moment where she is thinking solely of someone else.”

“Naomi desires mercy not offspring.”

“Ruth is a risk-taker, rule-breaker and boundary pusher… She’s just not looking after her own welfare. Ruth is pouring herself out for Naomi. It’s a powerful act of submission; it’s another towel and a bowl moment.”

“Boaz gives her (Ruth) place and honour; he treats her with dignity. Boaz is pouring himself out for Ruth and Naomi. It’s a powerful act of submission; it’s a towel and a bowl moment.”
